Introduction to the job

In Testbench & System Design Group at ASML Research, we are looking for a Research Technician with close affinity with laser science and optics, in order to strengthen our research team.

Most of the work is done in advanced optical laboratories, with class 4 optical testbeds and high power lasers, and requires broad knowledge of laser optics, electronics, mechanics and software. This requires you to be an all-rounder and a pragmatic experimentalist, with common sense and hands-on experience. You are also flexible with changing topics.

Role and responsibilities

  • You are responsible person for the ultrafast laser lab, supporting the smoothoperation of the lab, including operation, handling, and maintenance ofthe tools.
  • Supportconstruction of new optical test benches, in collaboration with other teammembers, including automation aspects (e.g. LabVIEW/Python).
  • Supportthe teams in organizational tasks and interaction with people outside theteam:
  • Interface with Facility Management
  • Safety department
  • Suppliers
  • Areresponsible for lab organization (5S+1) and safety, as a part of the teamof Research Technicians.
  • Havea close affinity with mechanical/electrical design and workshop.
  • Feel comfortable with some data analysis.

Education and experience

Education:

PhD/MSc in physics, laser engineering and/or optics/photonics

Alternatively MBO/HBO Technical study, for example, Physics, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering

Experience:

  • Experience3 to 10 years in a lab setting
  • Backgroundin component level electronics & board development.
  • Backgroundin the use oftest & measurement systems.
  • Experiencewith software and/or hardware design of laboratory setups
  • Knowledgeabout detectors and electronics for optical setups is a definiteadvantage.

    Pluses:
  • Knowledgeof any programming language such as Matlab, Python, C, C++, or C# is goodto have.
  • Experiencein LabVIEW.
